Kandy is an artist and designer working primarily with knitted textiles. Upon graduating with a 1st class BSc Hons degree in Textile Design in 2006, Kandy set up her brand 'Knit and Destroy' with which she has seen international success. 2013 brought the release of ‘Knit and Destroy…gets handy!’, a book containing 20 hand-knit patterns of Kandy’s designs.
Crafting products that blur the lines between product and art, Kandy has made a natural progression to making non-wearable art pieces as well as products, with work that aims to challenge cultural preconceptions by offering an alternative representation of knitting; creating pieces that are at odds with the embedded stereotype. Kandy’s work often involves a play on scale, with inspiration taken from popular culture, storytelling, novelty and knitting related objects and ephemera.
Kandy is also one third of the artists' collective Yiiikes! Making vibrant multi-dimensional art that incorporates sculpture and performance, aiming to engage and entertain the viewer with escapism into a parallel universe.
